Show Postmaster Fitzwater Indorsed by the People , Last week a petition was circulated addressee! to the Hon. Don B. Colton asking for the. 'reappointment of Mr. Fitzwater to the position of postmaster, postmast-er, this fall when his term expires. The petition was signed by practically everyone in town. Mr. Fitzwater has been in the post office since July 2, 1908, and has given the best of service ser-vice while in office, and in addition to his official work he has done many good things for the benefit of the country. He got the first mail service into the Basin from Colton in 1912, and later from Helper. In 1912 he took up the matter of building the steel bridge over the Duchesne with Senator Reed Smoot and secured the appropriation. Mr. Fitzwater is a veteran of the Spanish, American War, serving in the Phllliplne8. He was in several battles and engagements, and has a first class discharge from the Army. Mr. Fitzwater is a native of West Virginia, and has several good friends holding high positions in Washington, D. C. Ills long service in the post office has won him many friends and comments. The office is always open for Inspection and the post office inspectors in-spectors who inspect once each year, have always found it in first class shape. The people of Duchesne and-vicinity and-vicinity rejoice to have such a post master as Mr, Fitzwater, and he is considered one of the best in the State of Utah. Well liked by all, who know him, he is kind, courteous and obliging oblig-ing at all times. He stands high In this community. ' 1 |
