Show Uintah Basin Dairy Day Great Success The first annual Uintah Basin Dairy Day held In Roosevelt, September 20 and 21 was one of the most successful success-ful of its kind held In this state. The first class of aged Jersey Cows lined up for the judge, Clyde Richards, County Agent of Morgan County, challenges chal-lenges comparison at uny first annual dairy event. In nil ninety-seven entries, competed for the prizes offered by the Roosevelt Commercial Club, Jerseys and IIol-steins IIol-steins were about evenly represented. The exhibit of 'Ladies' Work and of 4-II Club Work held In the community hall was, like the cattle exhibits, outstanding. out-standing. Many interesting displays w ere made. The .Pet and Hobby Show of the Roosevelt Primary Association attracted n variety of pets ami hobbles hob-bles and an enthusiastic group of youngsters. In the Future Farmers judging contest con-test the Duchesne Comity High school team couched by Walter Atwood won first place and Uintah County scored second. Ellis Burton of Tahnage, Everett Harrison and Elmer Eldrldge of Roosevelt made up the winning team. In the Aged Jersey Cow class tho winners lined up Ira Gagon first, R. E. Fclker second, F. S. Drollinger third. Wilford Wall fourth and F. S. Drollinger Droll-inger fifth. Jersey Cows 2-3, F. S. Drollinger first John Benson second, Charles Jenkins Jen-kins third. Louie Galloway fourth, Ronald Wlscombe fifth. Jersey Heifers 1-2. M J. Benson first, R. A. Felker second. Jersey Calves. Herbert Yov.tig first Carl Burgess second, Ira Gagon third and fourth- . The Mature Ilolsteln Cows lined up as follows: Ira Pace first, Austin G. Burton second, J, II. RoMnson, third, Tom Taylor fourth, and II. L. Allied fifth. Ilolstein Cows 2-3, Ermo Pace first, L. E. Allred second, J. A. Olson third, Ira Pace fourth. Orlando Pace fifth. Ilolstein Heifer Calves, Rex Gardner Gard-ner first, Ronald Page second, Ward Johnson third, J. W. Gibboney fourth, and Wood row Collet t fifth. Herbert Young had the best 4-1 1 Culf Club Jersey Heifer, Carl Burgess second, sec-ond, Fred Gagon third and fourth, and Guy Lewis fifth. Erma Pace bad the best 1 II Calf Club Ilolstein Heifer, Ronald Page second, Orlando Pace third, Wood row-fourth row-fourth and Calvin Lisonbee fifth. The Jersey Bull Calf given away ly the Roosevelt Commercial Club was won by Win. Faucett. The Ilolstein Calf was won by Wood row Lawson. Both calves proved to be outstanding in the competition. Austin G. Burton of Talmage, brought exhibits farther than any resident res-ident of the Basin, while J. C. McDonald McDon-ald of Heber City was the only exhibitor ex-hibitor from outside the basin. |
