Show Duchesne Boy Scouts Participate in Hike Eighteen members of the Duchesne Scout Troop participated In an over night hike to the Ranger cabin at head of Indian Canyon, Friday and Saturday of last week. In addition to the Scoutmaster and Assistants. Kermlt Foulson and Frank Connor, the Troop had as a guide, Mr. Frank Richards of the Forest Service. Ser-vice. The Scout Troop proceeded by truck to the cabin Friday evening after af-ter school had dismissed, arriving in time to get supjier before dark. Bunks were made on the floor of the cabin as it was too wet to camp outside. Saturday morning at 0:30, First Call was sounded by the bugler much to the Joy of the boys who had found that the floor did not soften with age. Morning reiort and color ceremony followed at : 15. Then sick call to dose up the boys with colds. Mess was sounded Immediately afterward. Followed Fol-lowed the policing of the camp and the troop was shown the contents of aii emergency fire box and the use of its contents explained by Mr. Richards. Rich-ards. The boys were then instructed how to tell the age of the tree, how It grew and the value of trees to the country. Specimens were gathered of all the trees in the locality and mairy of the grasses and shrubs growing there. punctuated at frequent Intervals with The hike with Mr. Richards was snow balls as the clouds had decided it was a good day to get rid of a little moisture. After a visit to the planting grounds, the boys hiked for camp and mess. It was ashame that the mothers of the boys could not get the recipes used on a hike menu.
