Show "The Woman's Touch" BEAUTY GYMNASTICS FOR THE EYES We are going to talk about exercise for the eyes this week. It should not surprise you that exercise makes the eyes more beautiful. Good food, remember, remem-ber, creates a good bloodstream but only exercise can bring that bloodstream where it is needed. Attached to your eyeballs aie those six fine, silk-like little muscles which can be exercised and strengthened like all other muscles of the body. Simple eye drills, which take only a few minutes of the day, can greatly improve the looks and function of the eyes. Here are two basic eye gymnastics: gymnas-tics: 1. Turn your head from side to side as if to say lfno,f. Do this ten times. 2. Hold your index finger on a pencil about ten inches -i away from your eyes. Look at its tip, then into the distance. Do this ten times. Do these two simple eye drills every day; do them especially when you are using your eyes intensely for close work or for reading, and your eyes will be more beautiful and also serve you better. Palming is still the best way to relax tired eyes, this simple method is recommended for relaxing tension. Sit in front of a calendar or picture. Look at it. Now, gently close ( your eyes and cover them with your palms. Be sure not to press on your eyelids. Rest your arms. Relax. Let go. Breathe slowly and deeply 30, 40, 50 times. As you relax your covered eyes will see only restful gray-black, and as you gradually let go of all your tension, your eyes will see a deep dark black. Then open your eyes. Look at the calendar or picture again. You will see it more and more clearly the more you relax. Your eyes and your whole face will lose their tension whenever you palm. And ladies, this really works. |
