Federal funds have been allocated, $1,000, to pay the expense of the clinic for the remainder of the fiscal year, through June 30. Mrs. Helen B. Odekirk, States Dr. R. V. Larson, Duchesne County Health Director, Direc-tor, had instructed her to set up a clinic for the middle of February, possibly on Feb. 16. The clinics are held monthly at the courthouse in Duchesne. No money was made available by the county commission for the continuance of the clinical service. C. Leland Wright, district agriculture inspector for the Uintah Basin District (10), will be a chief participant in the district weed convention to be held at the Roosevelt First Ward House in Roosevelt Feb. 10, starting at 10 am. All persons interested in the controlling noxious weeds and new chemicals being- put on the market to do this job, are invited to attend the convention. Prof. Louis A. Jensen, agronomist for the Utah State Unversity, and a former county agent for Duchesne County, will participate in this public session, as well as members of the county and state noxious weed committee. Wilmer Murray, Myton, Duchesne County Commissioner, is chairman of the Duchesne County Weed Committee. LAURENCE E. BURTON BUR-TON DINNER TO BE HELD A Laurence J. Buxton dinner din-ner will be held at Hamilton's Frost Top Dining Room in Duchesne, Wednesday, February 16, 1966 at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend this dinner meeting. Tickets to this dinner are available from Bill Lewis, Maxine Burdick, Neill Jensen, Donna Hansen, in Duchesne; Charley Fabrizio, Hanna; Claude Wagstaff, Tabiona Harry Fieldstead, Altamont; Joe Kemp, Mountain Home. SIGN UP A 4H CLUB MEMBER NOW Now, and almost any time of the year, is the time to sign up a 4-H club of youngsters to help them learn a number of skills and have fun doing it. Boender, agents at , Duchesne for the Utah State University Extcntion Service, 'States forms and record materials mater-ials are available at their office in the courthouse in Duchesne for 4-H clubs to get on their projects. A variety of these projects are carried on throughout the year by the 4-H girls and boys. CANCER SOCIETY MEETING HELD TUESDAY An organizational meeting for the West Duchesne County Unit of the American Cancer Society was held Tuesday morning in the library at the -new Duchesne Elementary School. Owen E. Rouse, Og-den, Og-den, field representative for the Utah Division of The American Am-erican Cancer Society, conducted con-ducted the meeting. Those attending the meeting were Mrs. Carl (Donna R. ) Wilkerson, Duchesne, the unit chairman, who is replacing Mrs. LaRue Fisher, Altonah, who resigned this month; Mrs. Elden R. (Goldie G. ) Wilcken, Duchesne unit publicity director; direc-tor; Mrs. Raynold B. (Dona) Hansen, Duchesne education chairman, who succeeds Mrs. Jack (Ruby) Fitzwater, who resigned this month after having several years in this capacity; Mrs. Glen (Elma) Clark, Tabiona, Tab-iona, Cancer Crusade chairman for the Tabiona -Hanna, Fruit-land, Fruit-land, Duchesne, Bridgeland-Arcadia, Bridgeland-Arcadia, and surrounding area, who has accepted this job that has been held by Mrs. Wilkerson Wilker-son until she accepted the unit chairmanship; and Mrs. Guy L. (Naomi) Taylor, who is serving the unit again as secretary-1 secretary-1 treasurer. The meeting is the first this year in preparation for the 1966 Crusade for The American Cancer Society. The Crusade, a four-point program for research, re-search, education, service and fund raising, will get underway in April. - Other workers in the organization organ-ization named so far for this year's program in Duchesne County arc Mrs. Bernard (Lucille) (Lu-cille) Winkler, Bluebell, Crusade Cru-sade chairman for the Altamont Bluebell, Altonah, . Home, Talma ge, and other areas of Duchesne County's "Upper Country, Coun-try, " who has served in the American Cancer Society for several years as the Crusade chairman for this area; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rowley, Duchesne, Duch-esne, special gifts chairman. Four of these workers, the unit chairman, the publicity director, and the two Crusade chairmen will attend the division divi-sion meeting at the Hotel Utah Feb. 8-9. along with 150 other volunteer leaders from 41 county units in the state, states Ralph J. Hill, Salt Lake City, Crusade chairman for 1966 for the Utah Division SKILL-O-REE TO BE HELD SATURDAY Duchesne Scout District Skill-O-Ree, Duchesne Stake Center, Saturday, February 5, 7:30 p.m. The entire family is welcome to the 1 1' 2 hour activity, which opens with a general assembly of the scout troops, and inspection. The scouts of five troops will participate in five competitive events, reflecting their knowledge know-ledge of scouting skills. These events - knot tying, compass course reading, clothing relay, fire -making by friction and flint steel use; pole lashing. Dick Estes, Altonah scout district camping and activities 'chairman, will direct the Skill-O-Ree, reports Keith R. Hooper, Duchesne, Duchesne District Scout chairman. |
