Show 0 W We e CLEANUP A CONTINUOUS PROJECT So much has been said and thought and written during the past two weeks about bands and music music festivals that the Junior Chamber of Commerce cleanup campaign has been crowded into the back back- ground round It is not too late to say however that in spite of the fact that many of Duchesne's citizens were vere in Price when the final cleanup came caIne those remaining behind did a fine job and our fair city looks much fairer for their efforts To those who vho were vere too busy 5 to accomplish all that they would have liked to during the campaign the Jaycees would like to give a word vord of encouragement to g go o ahead and finish the job anyway anyway any any- way vay and we ve have the assurance from the city admin admin- that if the citizens will vill cooperate they will vill make a regular activity of gathering refuse properly placed atthe at the c curbs With this encouragement and support it is IS probably probably probably ably not too too much to expect that that eventually all of Duchesne will be able to pass inspection for clean yards and homes While a cleanup cle week is fine it it is better still to consider the entire year as one continual continual contin contin- ual cleanup pro program graIn READY TO SELECT A CAREER Because of heavy r rain which made travel and outdoor activities almost impossible a week ago the Duchesne County music festival was vas postponed and today set aside for this important all event But aside from this the day also holds another great im importance importance im- im to every student of the district It Jt is the close of school for fOl all of them and the end of high school for several groups of seniors By the time this is read some 92 students of the county will vill have received their diplomas tokens of having completed all that the they y can obtain m in the way vay of education in the Basin and will vill be ready either to take up further work york in college or to enter some SOUle vo vo- vo- vo cation All of them those who vho will vill continue their education education tion and those who vho will vill enter some vocation are probably probably probably ably facing the most critical time of their lives hues So far they have all progressed on more or of less the same pattern with their studies pretty well veIl mapped out for them theIn and their routine pretty T ti well veIl predetermined Now Nov they face a field of much greater selection and in their wisdom in determining their future courses lies a great deal of the determination of their future lives Those who vho will vill continue their studies must select their courses Will they become doctors lawyers lawyers law v or any of the other fine professions Will Vill they follow the fields of science and r research or engineering engineer engineer- ing will they equip themselves for the business world or orvill will vill they take special training ag in in some specific trade These questions they should answer now T. And the same applies to those vho o enter immediately into the fields of endeavor Though their then choice is ismore ismore ismore more restricted by the opportunities which present themselves still l the they can usually find several choices and the selection they make now nov will vill determine to a great extent the their l future activities No problem is is' ismore more important aril and usually none is harder than this matter of self-analysis self and determination determination determination deter deter- of what we ve are or want vant to become It It-is It is worth all the study time and effort the graduates will vill give it and all the help herP and advice they can get from parents educators educator s and friends May Y as many of them as possible choose vocations which will vill lead them back to the Uintah Uinta h Basin to help an analyze and develop its great resources and build of it a great community a monument to its pioneers and a credit to its younger generations |
