Show INVENTORIES AND RESOL RESOLUTIONS As we approach the New Nev Year it is natural to pause e in our activities and take inventory y of conditions conditions conditions con con- to estimate if possible where we ve are heading heading heading head head- ing as we ve enter 1938 and to see what can be done to help matters follow the course most beneficial to us The coming conling year seems to hold many things of promise for us Moon loon Lake reservoir will reach its completion n during the year and will vill if hopes are realized realized realized rea rea- begin storage of water during the coming corning spring runoff ready to assist the farmers if necessary for 1938 fall irrigation Dam Darn and Lake Boreham are about completed and will vill be ready for full utilization utilization utilization during 1938 These are two projects of definite benefit to agriculture in Duchesne County I Prospects are looking better for redevelopment of Blue Bench There is yet much to do on this project pro plO and one of the best N New v Year resolutions possible possible possible pos pos- sible would be a determination to keep hammering on an this project Our Governor Engineer E. H Wallis of the Utah Water Storage commission and others must all be constantly reminded that Duchesne County needs this le t and needs it NOW 1938 should see the completion of an oil surface on Highway 40 from Salt Lake City to the state line A little constant reminding on this project can do no harm however as our state road commission has built up a fine reputation for putting off till next year sear rear what has been promised this year The completion ion of Highway 40 has been promised Let us see that the promise is kept during 1938 Two vo recreational parks are being boosted for the Uintah Basin One is in Uintah Canyon at the site of the abandoned camp and the other is is on the top of Tabby mountain Both are fine locations offering wonderful scenery quite easily accessible Both should have the unlimited support of s of the Uintah Basin We realize annually much traffic and business through our hunting and fishing shing resources We should make every effort to strengthen and support our fish and game clubs in an In effort to see that these resources are built up rather than depleted To accomplish these various awns aims and many others which will come to ta our attention during the coming year we ve need above all better cooperation Our civic club association is gone I It t seemed proper at the time to disband it but there still seems need of some similar organization to keep pushing on the improvements we ve need If we stop we immediately be begin n going backward back We must keep working and pushing to keep improving through 1938 RECOGNITION OF SINCERITY At a funeral in Bridgeland this week Bishop Clayburn took occasion to say a kind and thoughtful word vord for the undertaker His statements almost called called called call call- ed for an acknowledgement on the spot but the occasion occasion occasion oc oc- oc- oc casion was vas hardly appropriate for such What we ve have to say following ng is not aji n idle attempt to return a favorable comment but is the expression of a sentiment sentiment sentiment senti senti- ment long which Bishop CY Clayburn's bur n s words have made jt t possible to release here An und undertaker serving as ash he e does all religions I and sects often acquires a peculiar philosophy of his own o H He comes in contact with people shorn of superficialities superficialities superficialities super super- leaning on this or that religion according to their own interpretations grasping for some Supreme Supreme Supreme Su Su- Su- Su preme guidance when th the earthly and familiar fail them He sees many religions comparing their similarities similarities similarities simi simi- and their differences and in so doing is apt to shun them all supplanting them with a creed which is born out of them all For that part of religion which impresses the undertaker is a part which is usually found in them all Mormons Catholics Protestants etc Brotherly Brotherly Brotherly Broth Broth- erly love kindness and sympathy the desire to alleviate alleviate alleviate alle alle- the suffering and bereavement of another to ease the burden during the time of trial The undertaker undertaker under under- taker sees all of th these se emotions over and over again in in varying degrees Sometimes he is im impressed with the idea that what he sees portrayed is more hypocritical hypocritical hypo hypo- critical than sincere more to comply with public opinion opinion opinion ion than with personal wishes and he is strongly impressed impressed impressed im im- pressed with emotions that seem truly sincere Bishop Clayburn mentioned an incident or two as being to the credit of the undertaker He could not n t take ke the same credit for himself vet Yet the 7 undertaker r ti was vas as paid aid for his services ces Bishop Clayburn Clayburn Clayburn Clay- Clay burn was not In all our acquaintances in this work we know of no man whatever his religion who vho has shown himself more sincere in his work vork than Bishop Clay Clayburn burn none who vho has shouldered responsibility devoted his personal time and resources more willing willing- willingly Ily ly none who vho has been more compassionate toward those he helped We are glad to have this opportunity ity to publicly recognize his sincerity The people of Bridgeland are to be congratulated on having him I for for- forthe the leader of their predominant church I |
