C Th The wide nation-wide program for enrollment in the camps has recently neared its completion Thousands of American youths have come and gone or have seen seen fit tit to remain remain- within the camps Every boy within this enrollment is an individual and each individual ual had his reasons f for r enrolling i just as our President had his reaSons reasons rea rea- I sons for the establishment of such splendid and worthy Institutions In this great movement half a million boys have left a half million homes Within th the near future these half million boys for what they are aro doing are justifiably justifiably justifiably ably deserving of the happiness that should properly accompany the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays Then why not instigate a national movement for a communIty community com corn consideration for these half million loving home boys These fine boys who are arc sending sixths five-sixths of their salaries back so as to keep the home-fires home burn- burn Ing lag Are the communities g going ing to wait for the boys to sal start t this movement Shame to them if they do It h has hs s been my good fortune to privately interview more than of these young men mep of the camps a. a arid and d my findings show that I failed to contact one boy who was not hungry for intelligent and elevating association I regret to report that in the main I found I them mentally undernourished sadly lacking for that social vitamin vitamin vita vita- min nun which exists e. only in clean and wholesome entertainment Every Everyone one of these boys lt knows that the commercial houses of the various communities reach out with viUl both hands to receive his earnings and he questions what they offer him himin himin himin in return Every boy is endowed endowed endowed en en- dowed with the power of oi reasoning reasoning reason Teason- ing and he h has hos s a right to b ba be heard Must we wait for tor him to start a movement in his own behalf Feels Ho Is Misunderstood Without an exception the boy feels that he is misunderstood and that too often he suffers a II reputation which has been established established on false information and based on false premise He is also awake to the fact that disreputable able conduct in sometimes ind indulged lg- lg ed Cd in by a afew few of his group and he senses keenly that the activity of these thes few can be traced directly to the doorstep of the that produced them Every boy without exception shows evidence o of many innate potential possibilities and while he feels that his scholastic training and his academIc academic academic acad acad- emic standings are are- te embarrassing embarrassing embarrassing em em- he has much truth In his declaration that his hl present status only reflects the tho inefficIency inefficiency clency of the educational spiritual and social program in th the district from whence he came He seems not to be e interested in regrets and I bygones what he does want is not nota notI I a n new deal but a n new deck a better better better bet bet- ter shuffle of lifes life's cards and more honest dealers I Th Tb O.
