Show CALVE, THE ONLY "CARMEN," COMING. Calve, tho artist; Calve, tho great soprano; Calve, the ono and only "Carmen," will bring her splendid supporting company, to the Tabernacle Taber-nacle for a concert on Friday evening, even-ing, tho 12th of January. This is what is causing more talk among tho society and the musical people than has been heard in a very long, long time. Of course Salt Lake is now sufficiently suf-ficiently prominent on tho map of the world to bo generally included In the itinerary of tho great and famous singers. Yet, we have never had Schumann-Heink, for Instance. Still, tho glad fact remains that Calve's managers, Cort and Kronberg, have announced that their big star will come to charm tho Salt Lakers and all tho surrounding people with her magnificent voice, and will give them a taste of grand opera in that she will sing her world-famous siren song from "Carmen," in tho poster costume which has been Identified with her great creation of tho Bizet role. Calve brings with her a famous basso, a tenor, a viollnlste, a pianist and a fluto player, and their ensemble numbers are said to be rarely beautiful. beau-tiful. Tho affair here is under tho direction di-rection of J. J. McClellan and Lois Steers-Wynn Coman, and there will bo excursions from the north and south, and reserved seats will bo put on sale In all of the uearby places. Tho seats here go on sale on Tuesday morning, the 2nd of January, at Clayton's Clay-ton's music store, and mail orders are now being received. |
