Show THE CITY COUNCIL. The city council, nt Its meeting Monday night, did very little business, tho members being desirous of adjourning adjourn-ing early in order to be nblo to arise early to participate in tho Memorial Bay parade Tuesday. Beyond granting ono or two petitions and passing an ordinance or-dinance with twenty-six provisions pertaining per-taining to plumbing, the business was of little or no Importance, with ono exception, ex-ception, tho refusal of the license ashed for by ltieger & Lindley for tho saloon on tho corner of Market and Main streets. This was objected to by the Odd Fellows' Building association, which represents the seven lodges, the two encampments, and tho two He-bckah He-bckah lodges, about one thousand in all. The license committee reported In favor of granting the petition of the fraternity and refusing tho license and tho report was unanimously sustained. Tho Odd Fellows were reinforced by the Knights and Ladies of the Maccn-bces Maccn-bces and the Women of Woodcraft, both of which filed protests, and all the organizations wore on hand with delegates to the number of about sev-enty-flvo ladies and gentlemen, all prepared pre-pared to voice their sentiments, in case tho council showed any disposition to grant the license. The veto of Acting Mayor Bavls of tho resolution sending the Mayor, Councilman Council-man Wells and Attorney F.S.HIchnrds to Now York to look aftor the recent bond Issue was not considered, but went over for a week.
