Show Thc republican gathering on Tuesday Tues-day levening at the house of Mr. and Mrs. Parley White was quite an important im-portant affair. Four rooms of the spacious residence were decorated dec-orated in the most artistic style, the guiding spirit being Mrs. Fred W. Price. There was a large assemblage and the decorations and general effect were charming. About 250 were present and the speakers were Messrs Plummer, Lcathcrwood, and Meakin." Refreshments were served by the Ladies' Republican club. The democratic leaders, Dcrn, King, Moyle and Snow, having defeated fusion fu-sion in the third, fourth and fifth municipal mu-nicipal wards, in the interest of the -A'mcrikcarns party in those wards, are now trying to elect Bransford by shouting that Morris is stronger than - Plummer. About the most badly disappointed crowd in the world will be the self styled "American" gang on the evening even-ing of November 5th. Their astonishment astonish-ment will be in the smallness of their vote. Brag and bluster dosn't make votes and it dosn't fool so many people as some other people think. w So-called democratic leaders boast that while the rank and file of their party wanted fusion they would not ict them have it. This is another case of the tail wagging the dog. Sam .King, a brother of Judge King, says that the city will go democratic and Bransford will be the next mayor. Sam is busy working for Mbrris, to accomplish this very result. R. P. Morris has the same chance of beating Plummer as a fly with a paper coat on has wintering in Hades. |
