H m At a bridge party given by Mrs. H John Earles Tuesday afternoon priz- Bl es were won by Mrs. Allen T. San- M ford, Mrs. James Ivcrs and Mrs. J. HJ M. Denny. At the Elks' club Thursday evening even-ing the members and their friends observed Halloween. The guests came in sheets and pillow cases and masked. The club house was decorated dec-orated in a weird manner with all the Halloween trimmings. A dance was given during the latter part of the evening. At the homis of the Ncwhouse Boys' club a pajama sewing party was given Wednesday as a benefit for the boys' club. Mrs. Margaret Pratt White was the hostess, and there were about seventy-five present. The Juvenile band entertained the guests with a musical program. The home of Miss Gladys McCon-aughy, McCon-aughy, on East Second South, was the scene of a Halloween party Thursday Thurs-day evening. Associated with Miss McConatighy in the entertainment were a number of her girl friends. Miss Lillian Fitch was the guest of honor ct a bridge party Mir.day afternoon given by Mrs. F. S. Bas-com. Bas-com. Five tables were played. Mrs. James Campbell entertained at tea Tuesday afternoon, in honor of Miss Monroe, a former resident of this city, who is here on a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar L. Cox entertained enter-tained Tuesday evening, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Van Zandt, who arc visiting here from Chicago, 111. The Rev. J. M. Dc Ncaf is spending spend-ing a few days in the city at the homo of Mrs. Donald Morrison, 1009 Easi Second South street. Miss Monroe left Wednesday for her home in Cheyenne, Wyo., after a visit here with old friends. Dr. Mayo has returned from Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, where he has spent the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Van Zandt of Chicago Chica-go arc here, visiting with Mr. and .Mrs. Will O. Clcland. Mrs. J. F. Grant left Wednesday for Ogdcn, to spend a few days with licr son. Mrs. J. W. Hall left Tuesday for a two weeks' trip to Goldficld, Ncv. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder of Reno, Ncv., have been here for a few days. Miss Edythc Maync was the guest of honor at a linen shower given by Mrs. John Burrow Wednesday afternoon. after-noon. The decorations were cairicd out in garden flowers, and about thirty-five guests were present. The Alumni banquet of the graduates gradu-ates .of the Iowa State college was held Friday evening at the Knuts-ford. Knuts-ford. Professor F. C. French of the University faculty had the affair in charge. t Mrs. W. H. Webber entertained at a Halloween party Wednesday evening. even-ing. The affair was in honor of Miss Kathcrine Adams and Miss Ruby Lambourne. On Friday evening, at the Unitarian hall, 142 Second East street, the Unitarian Uni-tarian Sunday school gave its annual "harvest entertainment," consisting of a short program of musical nitm-.bers, nitm-.bers, concluding with a social dance and refreshments. The Theta Upsilon sorority of the Universityof Utah gave a Halloween party at the home of Miss Mona Wilcox. Wil-cox. The house was decorated with a large assortment of bones and skulls and jack o'lantcrns. An old-fashioned Halloween party, given in English style, was given in the Bransford barn. The hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Elbridge Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Evans. Mrs. J. C. Jackling was the hostess of a Halloween dance Thursday evening even-ing at her home on Brigham street. The affair was in honor of Miss Win-nifrcd Win-nifrcd Brycc and Miss Merce Lewis. ft ft w One of the most unique events of Wednesday was the farmers' hop given giv-en by the members of the signal corps and their friends in Armory hall. - , Mrs. J. B. Cosgriff gave a luncheon Wednesday in honor of Miss May I Kervin of Reno, Ncv., who is spending spend-ing a few days in this city. A Halloween party was given Thursday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pearl and Mr. and Mrs. vV. L. McLeod at the Miller flats. ...
