Judge William H. King entertained a prty of friends at the Theatre the first night of "The Man of the Hour, his guests being Mr. and Mrs. Rus-sel Rus-sel L. Tracy and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph E. Caine. Mr. and Mrs. M1. H. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Dern and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Simon were among those who entertained stall parties at the open ing performance of "The Man of the Hour." The committee of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers appointed to prepare pre-pare for the annual old-fashioned ball held Wednesday and decided on Feb. 21 as the date. The dance will be given in the Lion house, and is looked look-ed forward to with p.leasant anticipations anticipa-tions by those who attended last year. H. F. Savage entertained a score or more of his friends Tuesday evening at a bridge party, when six tables were filled with the players. The host was assisted by a few of his close friends, and prizes were won by Mrs. David S. Murray and Dr. W. D. Don-phcr. Don-phcr. An elaborate supper followed the game. Arrangements were completed Tuesday for the annual luncheon of the Spirit of Liberty chapter, Daughters Daugh-ters of the American Revolution, to be given on Washington's birthday The luncheon will be given at the Knutsford, the committee of arrangements, arrange-ments, Mrs. L. C. Miller and Mrs. Hcnrey LaMottc, having made the decision Tuesday. The news that Mrs. Helen Shearman Shear-man Guc will be the vocalist at the Symphony concert Sunday evening has been of especial interest to music lovers, who have not had the privilege privi-lege of hearing Mrs. Guc for some years. Mrs. Gue will leave Sunday evening later for Portland in company com-pany with her brother, W. H. i ,ir-man, ,ir-man, and her baby, and will visit Mr. and Mrs. Alma D. Katz for a few wer'es. The regular meeting of the Utah Women's Press club was held Friday evening, Jan. 31, at 7:30 o'clock in the Women's Exponent office in the Templeton building. Miss Lydia Palmer, who has only just returned from a two years' stay in Europe, will begin next Thursday a scries of afternoon lectures on the great masters of the Renaissance. There will be ten lectures and they will be given at the Palmer home, 03 First avenue. Mr." and Mrs. R. L. Mrs. E. D. Woodruff entertained a dozen of her friends Wednesday at a violet luncheon at the Commercial club, followed by a matinee party at the Orpheum.
