A delegation of thir y teacher? visited vis-ited Canyon Crest Ranch, the past week, and spent a most instructive and pleasant day, the guest of Mrs. Park. The Ranch, originally founded by the Federation of Women's clubs, whose sole interest is to make good boys out of the poor unfortunate under their guidance, will eventually prove one of the finest institutions of its kind in the West. The surroundings are beautiful and productive. Two hundred acres of grotmd arc now under cultivation, the work being done by boys from eleven to sixteen years of age, and the cattle comprises all the Lords of the farm yard. The boys arc educated, edu-cated, not only in elementary school subjects, but arc familiarized with all agricultural pursuits and the leading lead-ing trades. The manual training section, sec-tion, now under construction, and in whose interest the club women arc zealously working, promises, wlven complete, to more than win the hearts of the ambitious youth. The Juvenile Juven-ile Court in a measure acts co-operatively with the Ranclj, and but one aim and 'endeavor is manifest, to make strong, healthy, rugged men out of these unfortunate little lads'. The Utah Federation of Woman's club, will hold its annual session this year at Ogdcn. Plans and arrangements arrange-ments for same, to take place the latter part of October, arc now being be-ing perfected. The one item of importance, im-portance, particularly prominent will be an addcrss on "Forestry" by Enos A. Mills, who being connected with the government commission of forestry, for-estry, is very fluent on this subject, and his address promises to be very enthusiastically received. |
