Show special correspondence editor transcript ft I 1 thought hought that perhaps tw few 11 lines 1 es from me might be to abide some k of your readers I 1 will nuke the attempt to tell you of some of of the sights I 1 have seen since leaving the beautiful valleys and snow capped peaks ol of dear deal old utah kurfirst our first atop was in the wonderful city of chicago where epe one would think from the tush and bustle of the people thy did hot take the time I 1 to either eat eai or sleep our first stroll was along van van buren street which filled us with admiration as we razed at the line display of all kinds of roods goods in some of the show windows of the sky scraper stores some of which were flom IS to io 20 stories high most of the streets are 0 so o narrow that there is only room tor for a street car tract and a wagon rold road on each side the 1 sl I de wilks walks arc arb from 6 to 8 feet wide and in many places aacen you have to edge your way through h the crowding throng that are arc ever going each way at A a rapid pace next neit morning morning we took in lincoln park the park Is situated on the bhore of lake michigan and though the weather was cold and chilly we apen several houn very pleasent pleasantly ly in visit ing some of the public attractions there out our first was th the mut museum where they have a fine collection of minerals fossils and other exhibits next we visited the zoo where we saw a gaierty 0 of live animals such as are generally seen in the circuses thit that make their anual annual visit visit to utah we ii next ext visited the aviary where we were greet greeted edwith with the quacking of ducks docks 1 and the scree hing of bf parrots miny of the water fowls were really in in their native element and there were many birds noted for the their ir beautiful plumage such as the bird of paradise and the silver pheasants but in no place did we enjoy ourselves asic aa we did aid n the wr table paw 11 1 ett fl 1 it Y great gaarden g 4 afe n of ferns I 1 bibb rubber er ind and other kinds or of trop tropical 1 ical trees and plants we imagined we bad had been an iran sported from the artic to the torrid zone but when we came in to the afie cold air of the park again that dream soon left us in the the park are many animals such A as the bison camel elk eli and many more of that kind of animals while le in the ponds were seals otter and beaver A another stroll through troug h the streets brought us to od our r hotel the victoria where frere we will rest for the day J R CLARK |
