Show impressive rites heid held saturday ForLeo Johnson impressive funeral services for 1 leo johnson prominent grantski ville vi and tooele thoele county resident were held saturday at 1 p pm in in the grantsville Grants ville 2nd ward chapel under the direction of alma gardener burial was in the grantsville Grants ville city cemetery mr johnson died at his home the preceding wednesday follow ing a long illness he was born march 7 1873 in grantsville Grants ville a son of charles and charlotte erickson johnson he was married to goldie judd dudd of grantsville Grants ville march 12 1901 he is survived by his widow and one son ralaigh johnson of salt air three grandchildren and one great grandchild two brothers bishop paul G johnson and albert johnson and three sisters mrs hampton worthington mrs alice mcmichael and miss mable john son all of grantsville Grants ville county a mr Jo johnson hilson was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends and associates he ile was a benefactor in his community and during his lifetime had bettered conditions for others as well as achieving security for himself aft er acquiring a common school edu cation he engaged in sheep rais rals mg ing with his brother alexander johnson from 1893 to 1906 at one time they had as high as ten thou sand sheep later he concentrated on raising cattle mules and high grade horses As manager of the standard horse and mule company he handled three hundred mules and six hundred horses during the world war I 1 many head of these were sold to the english french and american governments govern mens he was a capable businessman and con ducted other with sue cess he ile was president of the deseret mercantile company la a business started by his father and carried on by the sons he helped organ ize the bank at grantsville Grants ville and served as vice president in civic affairs he had served as a member of the city council of grantsville Grants ville and was county commissioner from 1916 to 1918 his political belief ad herred to the republican party and he was a sincere member of the church of jesus christ of lat ter day saints |
