Show achievement program viii held by local 4 ES 11 the annual 4 H achievement pro gram was held last wednesday ev ening feb 11 in the tooele thoele first ward church the program was under the direction of A E smith county agricultural agent and bet ty jeanne stone home demon denion stra tion agent the opening song A menca merica was sung by the congre gation and mr smith offered the invocation betty jeanne stone lead the 4 H ers in some community singing and the favorite song was there theres s a hole role in the bottom of the sea which david sharp jr state 4 11 leader from the AC at logan taught the leaders and members on their annual camping trip two years ago each club was asked to furnish a number and they all responded with at least one donna mae rid ing presented a tap dance follow ed by guitar solos from colleen hitesman and valene valerie vane carol gustaveson played an accordion solo and yvonne and hazel bryan presented a piano duet and a violin al and id d piano duet movie shown by lowell woodward one of the highlights of the ev ening was the presentation of a picture where the road turns R by lowell woodward this picture was made in cooperation with the extension service and is the story of two club leaders who by their efforts and ceaseless work interested many rural boys and girls in the 4 H program and help ed them to become bet better ter farmers and homemakers the girls and boys who took the main parts were also actual club members that f im proved to be a real boost for 4 H work to all who saw it following the film fern shipley assistant state 4 H club leader and dr R W roskelley extension so cl cid ogist from the agricultural col lege were asked to speak they both expressed their oy joy at being able to meet with the group and said that they were looking for ward to joining them again soon mr smith presented pr resented certificates to all all those inose members who had corn com plated their year s work certini cates of recognition were also pre dented to the leaders the i fourth I 1 year cloth ng g ris received pins with their certia cates cate cente centennial nial certificates were presented tol to j those who had entries in the fair and miss shipley sug suggested that they might be kept in the girl girls s and boys record books the ine program ended with the group singing the song sing your way home this was the first meeting of a county wide 4 H group since last fall and the extension service was very thrilled to see such a large crowd and so many familiar faces this is just a starter for the corn com ing 4 H year buti but it is a promise of things to come it will soon be time for 4 H registration to begin keep watching this column for further information |
