Show i 1 Rep. John Garr Rep. John Garr Files For Reelection State Representative John M. Garr has announced his candidancy for reelection to the Utah State House of Representatives from District 70 East Carbon, Emery and Grand Counties. Representative Garr is completing com-pleting his 2nd term and 4th year in the House of Representatives. Represen-tatives. He is presently serving serv-ing as Co-Chairman of the Revenue and Taxation interim committee, and also serves as Chairman of the Natural Resource Trust Fund and Severance Tax Sub Committee of the Revenue and Taxation Committee. He also is presently present-ly serving on the Energy Sub Committee, and has been nominated by Legislative Leadership to the Governor's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Energy. Representative Garr was a co-author of the shoplifting bill now in effect and was the chief sponsor for the bill on the House floor. He was also a House sponsor of the Bunnell bill SB 110, which created a State Municipal Water Loan Fund, from which interest free money is made available to local governments for culinary water development. At the present time Emery County cities of Huntington, Castle Dale, Orangville, Ferron and Emery have or will receive allocations from this fund. He has also sponsored or strongly supported other pieces of legislation that have been advantagous to industrial and energy development, senior citizens, education and agriculture agricul-ture in District 70. "When conducting my last campaign, I promised to represent all of the constituents constitu-ents of District 70 and the state of Utah to the best of my ' ability. I feel I have fulfilled .that promise, by not only being an active and effective Representative during the legislative session, but also during the interim periods between sessions, and I would like to continue to offer that expertise and service to the people of East Carbon area, Emery and Grand Counties," he said. |
