Show Traffic Accldenfs in Moab Keep City Police Busy A rash of traffic accidents kept the Moab Police Department Depart-ment busy this past week. According to Police Chief Melvin Dalton the first incident inci-dent of the week occurred on Aug. 23 in the parking lot cf Valley Home & Auto when Harold Bowen, Sr., driving a 19G9 Chevrolet collided with Sue Ann Dickinson, driving a 1971 Chevrolet. Bowen was driving out of the parking lot as the other auto was driving in. $15o damage was done to each vehicle. Since the accident occurred on private pri-vate property, . no citation was issued. On Aug. 25, James Costan-za, Costan-za, driving a 1968 Pontiac, failed to yield the right of way and collided with Richard Rich-ard Robson, driving oa 1972 Kawasaki on the cprner of South Main and 2nd South. There was $600 damage done to the Pontiac and $500 damage dam-age to the Kawasaki. Costan-za Costan-za was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Thomas Lyles, driving a 1971 Volvo ran into a city sign.' on the corner of South Main and 2nd South on Aug. 26. There was $50 damage done to the vehicle and $25 damage to the sign. On Aug. 27, Marie Somer-ville, Somer-ville, driving a 1968 Ford, failed to yield the right of way and collided with Norman Nor-man Boyd who was driving a 1963 Ford. The accident occurred on First East causing caus-ing $700 damage to the Som-erville Som-erville vehicle and . $700 damage da-mage to the Boyd vehicle. Marie Somerville was cited for driving while intoxicated. John Jackson, riding a 1970 Kawasaki, ran into a guy wire on the Southeast Elementary Ele-mentary parking lot on Aug. 28. He was hospitalized with a broken collar bone and bruises. Since the accident occurred on private property, no citation was issued. Officer Mike Hamner of the Moab Police Department arrested Danny Lynn Bates, 18, Richard Lynn Woods, 18, and 1 juvenile on Aug. 29. All three were charged with having stolen property in their possession. There was an incident of vandalism in the Valley Shopping Center where some damage was done to the Walker Wal-ker Drug sign. This incident is still under investigation, and a reward has been offered of-fered for information leading lead-ing to the arrest and conviction convic-tion of those responsible. |
