Show Worker Buried In Trench Cave On 4th East A cavein of a trench on Fourth East Street Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon pinned Jim Wilson, who was working in the trench at the time of tho cave-in. Wilson suffered broken ribs and multiple bruises in the incident. County Sheriff's Deputy De-puty Carl Davis reported that a section of trench about 10 feet long caved in while Wilson Wil-son was in it, completely burying the man. The trench is about 9 feet deep and Wilson Wil-son had turned his back to the other side of the defile when the wall caved off and pinned him against the other side. He reported that he was able to braethe because of a pocket of air which he had formed by raising his hands above his head. Workers at the scene took more than 15 minutes to free the buried man. He was rushed to Allen Memorial Hospital by Green Ambulance. Deputy Davis was assisted in, the investigation by Trooper Bruce Black of the Utah Highway Patrol. Officers stated stat-ed that had Wilson been standing in any other position posi-tion when the cave-in occurred, occur-red, he would probably have been smothered by the wet clay. |
