Show District Court Session Held Here on Monday Seventh Judicial District Dist-rict Court with Judge Edward Ed-ward Sheya presiding held its regular monthly law and motion day on Monday March 8, in Grand Coun. ty. One of the cases on the criminal calendar was the State of Utah versus Garr Michael LeDuke, who had been charged with Grand Larceny. The State moved mov-ed the court to permit the dependent to plead guilty to the charge of petit larceny lar-ceny for the reason that he had no previous criminal crim-inal record and was being considered for the armed forces and for the further reason that there was some doubt that the automobile auto-mobile was valued in excess ex-cess of $50. It was further pointed out that the defendent had returned the item stolen and that he was agreeable to paying the expenses incurred in-curred in returning him for trial from Wyoming. The court sentenced the defendant to six months in the Grand County jail and suspended 4 months of the jail sentence upon the express condition that he pay the sum of $200 to Grand County to cover the expenses in returning him for trial. He was also al-so ordered to obey all Federal, State and local . laws and ordinances during dur-ing the 6 months probation proba-tion period and to refrain from becoming intoxicated. intoxicat-ed. Two other cases were also on the criminal calendar: cal-endar: Richard Loback and Ralph Rodney Brick were charged with burglary burg-lary in the second degree and another case involving involv-ing the same two defendants defend-ants which was an appeal from a lower court conviction convic-tion for possession of a narcotic drug. Upon stipulation of con-sel con-sel for the State and defense, de-fense, the court set the burglary charge for trial on March 31, at 10 a. m. before a jury and the appeal ap-peal on the narcotics conviction con-viction for April 2, at 10 a.m. to follow the burglary burg-lary trial. The court awarded a modification of the divorce divor-ce decree in Reedy versus Reedy whereby Dallas D. Reedy was given custody of minor children, of the parties until further order of the court. Carolyn Scovil was awarded a divorce from Lloyd Scovil and was also awarded custody of the minor child of the parties by Judge Sheya. In addition to this busy schedule, Judge Sheya. heard a number of probate matters and trial settings. |
