Show Bluff Mission Serves Isolated Community . The Navajo Mountain Community, located at the southern base of sacred Navojo Mointain is center cen-ter of missionary work done by St. Christopher's Mission to the Navajo, Bluff, Utah, at the western end of its territory. The daily life of the people living li-ving in the area is enriched enrich-ed by a trading post, clinic, B.LA. school for beginners, and a Tribal Headstart program at the Chapter House. Office of Navajo Economic Opportunity (O-NEO) (O-NEO) projects are common com-mon and have been responsible res-ponsible for many well built homes in past years. Harold Drake, the progressive prog-ressive councilman for several se-veral years, is responsible for bringing many of the better programs into the area. At the same time, the Mountain is mysteriously mysteri-ously strange to Navajo people living elsewhere. For some it is hard to believe be-lieve that the Mountain really exiists. Others hear of the strange and different differ-ent ways of the people living there. In fact, the people of Navajo Mountain have set a unique example in a modern world. While they have retained far more of their traditional ways and values than people peo-ple living on many parts of the reservation they have at the same time been ab-ble ab-ble to successfully draw on those parts of the modern mo-dern world that would most benefit their community. commu-nity. As a result the community com-munity provides a unique combination of Navajo life. During the past years Mission staff have made regular visits to the Mountain. Moun-tain.
