Show MGM Bringing Film. Crew! Moab 'Area Location ' Portions of the MGM Studios production, "Wild Rover," starring William Holden and Robert Ryan, will be shot in the Moab area, it was learned this week by members of the Moab Chamber of Commerce Com-merce Movie Committee. .George White, member of - the committee, stated Wednesday that he had been in contact with location loca-tion managers for the pro. duction, and they' would be moving a large crew into Moab Wednesday ' and Thursday of this week for several . days of shooting. Eighty-five motel rooms have been reserved by the studio for their personnel. Mr. . While stated that Dutch Horten, veteran - lo, cation manager for the studio, had been in Moab last weekend, and the decision de-cision to move locations here was made during the week. Currently, the filming, film-ing, which is being done over a wide range of localities, lo-calities, is being done at Flagstaff and Kayenta, in Arizona. - Committee member Bud Lincoln stated that his group had met with the film's producer, Ken Wells and it appeared that a full week's work might be scheduled in Moab. "Wild Rovers" is a 3.5 million production, according to Mr. Lincoln. The picture is being directed dir-ected by Blake Edwards, well known Hollywood director, dir-ector, who directed "The Great Race," in addition to many other productions. Mr. White stated that he was planning to meet with Mr. Horten Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon to discuss location needs while the company is in the Moab area. It is not yet known just how long the produc. tion will be here, or what they will be requiring in the way of local facilities. Mr. White stated that he was extremely pleased that the decision had been made to shoot a portion of the film in the Moab area. This is the first time MGM has been in Moab, although the company has been contacted on numerous numer-ous occasions by Committee Commit-tee members on their annual an-nual trips to Hollywood. The last Hollywood production pro-duction filmed in Moab was "Blue" 4 years ago. |
