Show Rampton Heads List Of Diqnitaries at Meef Officials of the Southeastern South-eastern Utah F.conomic Development District, along with a number of state officials will be meeting in Moab this Friday, Fri-day, May 11. for the Southeastern I'tah F.conomic F.co-nomic Development Conference. Con-ference. Meetings, scheduled sche-duled for all day, will be held at the courthouse. Registration for the conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Gardell Snow, chairman of the Southeast I'tah Economic Development District opening op-ening the conference at 10:00 a.m. Beginning at 10:05a.m. a report of district activities acti-vities will be made by Jesse Tuttle, director of the district. He will report re-port on accomplishments, accomplish-ments, needs and objectives objec-tives of the district. Following this general report, representatives from the four counties will discuss developments develop-ments in their districts. Harry Mangus. director of Eastern I'tah Development, Develop-ment, Inc., will report from Carbon County: Keith Ware, director of Emery County Development. Develop-ment. Inc., will report from Emery County; Don Hoffman. Director of Grand County F.conomic Development will follow and Art Allison, planner with the Utah Navajo Development Council will represent San Juan County- Chris Jouflas, planner with the Southeast I'tah Economic Development District will give the annual an-nual progress report on the district followed by E. Allen Hunter, president presi-dent of Utah Power and Light Co., who will address ad-dress himself to power project development in the four-county area, prospects and problems. During the luncheon session, set to begin at noon at Ramada Inn, Mr. Tuttle will introduce the guest speaker for the meeting, Governor Calvin Cal-vin L. Rampton. During his visit here, Governor Rampton will also tour the proposed site of the Mill Creek Dam. The afternoon session will return to the court- u " -t hv . -"v I 'j - ' - ''. N - "" ' " " K . Mte. Moderator Mod-erator will be Cleal Bradford, director of the Utah Navajo Development Council. Speaking on the panel will be William G. Bruhn. director of the Department of Community Commun-ity Affairs, who will discuss dis-cuss how the community affairs program fits the four county area. He will be folloved by John Leete, director of the I'tah Industrial Promotion Promo-tion Division who will present facts on how the industrial promotion program fits the 4-county area. W.C. Palfreyman, director di-rector of the Employment Development Division of the I'tah Department of Employment Security will then present ideas on what local communities communi-ties can do for economic development. Clem Church, chairman of the Utah State Department of Highways will then discuss dis-cuss highway impacts in the four-county area. Included In-cluded will be discussion of 1-70, Canyonlands and Lake Powell. A presentation of the 4-Corners Region Commission Com-mission involvement in the four-county area will then be given by Carl Larsen. director of the Four Corners Regional Commission. Dan Lawrence Law-rence of the Water Resources Re-sources Board will then present information about water resources and developments in the four county area. Following Follow-ing this, a presentation will be made by James G. Berry, director of the Utah Travel Council on tourism, recreation, travel and industry in this area. Mining activities and potential in the four corners cor-ners will be discussed as the final presentation by Helmut Doelling, economic eco-nomic geologist of the Utah Geological andMin-eralogical andMin-eralogical Survey of the University of Utah. Following Fol-lowing these panel presentations, pre-sentations, a question and answer session will complete com-plete the agenda for the meeting. election on the nursing home question is set for June 5th. |
