Show Jail Turns to Probation After City Court Order Gary Hopkins appeared before City Judge Donald Crist on August 3, whereupon where-upon four months of his sentence of six months on a charge of possession of marijuana was suspended upon condition that he be placed on probation under the supervision of the Ad-, ult Probation and Parole Department for a period of two years. In explaining the release, re-lease, Judge Crist stated that Mr. Carl Kraync of the Department of Vocational Voca-tional Rehabilitation had met with him and recommended recom-mended that Hopkins' release re-lease to the probation board would be in the best interests of both the community and Hopkins himself. Conditions of the probation proba-tion are as follows: ! 1. Mr. Kraync is to serve as the defendant's probation officer and the defendant is ordered to report to said probation officer on a twice per week basis during the period per-iod of his probation. 2. Hopkins is ordered to report to the Rehabilitation Rehabilita-tion Center in Provo for psychotherapy counseling on a twice per month basis bas-is during the time of his probation. Regular reports re-ports of this attendance are to be made to the court. Hopkins will be re- quired to provide his own transportation to these sessions, and may not be accompanied by anyone other than a member of his immediate family. 3. He was ordered not to violate any state or federal drug or narcotic law during the entire term of his probation. He is not to knowingly associate asso-ciate with any person who has been convicted of any state or federal drug or . narcotic aw, and is fur- I ther prohibited from as- ! sociating with any person under charge or indictment indict-ment for a vioation of any state or federal drug or narcotic law. j 4. Except when accompanied accom-panied by his wife andor child Hopkins is not to be allowed out past the hour of 10 p.m. on any night of the week. When he is working swing shift, Hopkins is required to drive home by the shortest and most direct dir-ect route possible, utilizing utiliz-ing the old highway and go directly to his home. 5. The defendant is prohibited pro-hibited from leaving San Juan and Grand County except when accompanied accompan-ied by his wife and except ex-cept when attending the icounseling sessions in Provo. 6. In the event there is an alleged violation of the probation, the defendant-will defendant-will not be entitled to a trial but only to a probation proba-tion hearing. If he is found to have violated any terms of his probation he will be required to serve four months in the County Jail. j |
