Show Stolen Car Recovered; Juveniles Apprehended A Moab juvenile was incarcerated incar-cerated in Price Jan. 19 under the custody of juvenile authorities, authori-ties, charged with auto theft. Dr. Robert Murray reported to police at midday that his 1965 Lincoln Continental, containing con-taining a bag of narcotics, had been stolen from the Medical Center sometime after 10 a.m. At 12:30 Officer Gene Migliori spotted the car, with two occupants, going south on North Main. He pulled in behind the car as Chief Mel Dalton blocked the front. The driver, in an apparent attempt to get away, hit both police cars with the Lincoln, then fled on foot up 2nd North. Chief Dalton arrested one subject at the spot, and Officer Migliori chased the other and apprehended him a few minutes later on 1st North after the juvenile had hid in the roof of a shed. One police car sustained about $200 damage, the other about $100 damage, and Dr. Murray's vehicle sustained about $200 damage. The juvenile driving the vehicle was charged with auto theft, and the other youth was turned loose with no charges. A bracelet valued at $150 which had been stolen from the High Desert Gift 5hop was recovered and a juvenile was taken into custody charged with the theft. This case will be heard in Juvenile Court. Police investigated an accident acci-dent Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at 1st North and 3rd East. Jen Pope, driving a Buick, was pulling away from the curb and ran into an eastbound Blazer driven by John White. The Buick sustained about $500 damage and the Blazer about $550 damage; and Mrs. Pope was cited for improper lookout, look-out, causing an accident. School officials reported to City Police Monday that sometime over the weekend a quantity of foodstuffs had been taken from Helen M. Knight Elementary School. Reported missing were 4 cases of corned beef, a case of margarine, 3 pounds of butter, one-half case of eggs, and 50 half-pints of milk. Authorities report that there had been no forced entry, and no damage to the building. Officer Migliori, a Moab Police Officer for 5 years, left the department as of Jan. 20 to go into private industry in Pennsylvania. |
