Show POET'S CX)RNBKjffl J EDITED BY M l NIK HOUGEN f A PEACEFUL PLACE You ask me why I like the rocks, The mountains and the hills. I guess it's cause it's peaceful there, There are no city thrills. A man can think of all the good God placed upon this earth. It makes you feel that you belong. You know what life is worth. Some people like the city noise, The people and the crowd: But give me solitude to dream, And watch a fleecy cloud. I'll contemplate God's wonders, A tree, a flower, a stone, While taking my rranquilizer-Doses rranquilizer-Doses of Nature-all alone. You cannot hear a single thing, But nature all around. I wish the world could realize The riches I have found. By Iris Howell & Lee Kendall Submitted by-Frank & Leona Lemon. DECEMBER SHADOWS December's somber shadows creep, . ..:u I ni:iJnl j er Wliucrucbi aiiu auinuuc, While violets, in slumber deep, Know not of Winter's changing chang-ing mood. Sleeping in downy, grassy beds, Safe from the gales from arctic lands; Snug and warm neath leafy spreads, They await the touch of fairy hands. They dream, perhaps, of a babbling brook, Perhaps they dream of a robin singing; To his nesting mate in a shady nook, Or an oriole in her hammock swinging. But a warm chinook shall break the spell, And melt the ice from a stream and pond; And sap shall flow and buds will swell, When the "Fairy" waves her magic wand. Frank D. Lemon I am-the starship-the universe the life past man. The stars, the planets, the perfection of space, without time, are suspended within my mind. My life not complete is yet so. I-We can go past what we are taught what limits and barriers society has set-we set-we are free if our minds can see The One the flow-being alone not lonely being without our "ident-ity." "ident-ity." To overcome the past by being and living now the stars are ours the planets our family-beyond family-beyond mankind, We learn to flow through time, and ask what that may be, yet live in the fulness of each moment. Can I say more or need I? Either you hear or don't The earth is our mother and beyond but you can't get free if you won't let it be. Bruce Goodman |
