Show 60TH ANNIVERSARY The family of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Bastian hosted a party par-ty for them on the 60th anniversary of their marriage; marri-age; they were married in the Salt Lake Temple October 3, 1917. They lived in Salt Lake City for a while, then moved to Green River when they bought Trachyte Ranch on the east end of the Henry Mountains. Moun-tains. They had lived here more than 35 years. The children are Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Bastian, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bastian and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bastian and their families from Green River; Jacob, Huntington; Mr. and Mrs. Newell, Moab; Mrs. Myrtle Bair, Denver and Mr. and Mrs. George (Marie) Cavanaugh, Bountiful. The first event was a family dinner at the LDS church, at which more than 100 guests from Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Washington and S. Dakota enjoyed the good food and good visiting. In the afternoon, the visiting continued contin-ued until the Reception at the Cultural Hall, at which the family was joined by hosts of friends of the Bastian family. Marie's husband. George Cavanaugh, was Master of Ceremonies and led off with a poetic tribute to the Bastians. This was followed by a song by the two daughters, Marie and Myrtle. "That Siver haired hair-ed Daddy of Mine," and a tribute by Mrs. Muriel Smith. Marie's daughter gave a humorous hum-orous reading, and there were two dances by Ernest's children, child-ren, Danna, Mary Ellen and Janice. Calvin sang "What God Made Mothers for" and Newell's daughter Sandi and her friend, Glenna Ferguson-sang Ferguson-sang a medley of songs. All of the granddaughters then finished fin-ished the program by singing, "Families Are Forever." During the evening, the couple was presented with a genealogical quilt which the family had made, with all the names embroidered on it and places where they had lived. Mr. and Mrs. Bastian have seven children, twenty-six grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. These were all present at the party, as well as four sisters of Mrs. Bastian, Mrs. Golda Jensen and Mrs. Dween Robis and Mrs. Ber-nice Ber-nice Calvins from Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ila Tanner of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The couple have both retired, retir-ed, although Mrs. Bastian worked until just a few years ago. and are now spending more of their time at the Trachyte Ranch. Through the years, the land has been cleared, and an extensive irrigation project built. It is a singularly beautiful location, and the Bastian family enjoys it greatly. |
