Show Post Labor Day Period Brings Patrol Activity Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ralph Benson reported this week that local officers experienced ex-perienced a quiet Labor Day weekend but since that time have had a large number of accidents reported to them. The only accident reported over the long holiday weekend occurred on Sept. 6. at 11:13 a.m., nbout two miles north '.of Green River on North Long Street, when a 19"1 Rupp mini-bike, ridden ly two 12 year old boys collided ivith a 1966 Volkswagen driven driv-en by Donald Lee Wilson, 1(5, of Green River. The accident occurred as the boys, Timothy Timo-thy Don Woolsey and Gero'd Zabriskie, both of Green River, Ri-ver, pulled in front of the Volkswagen and Wilson was unable to stop or avoid hilling hil-ling the pair. About $'o damage dam-age was done to each vehicle ve-hicle and citations were issued is-sued to the Woosley youth for failure to yield the right of way and no driver's license. No serious injuries were reported re-ported in the accident. . On Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. about 18 miles north of Moab on VS. 163, Jean Milton, 55, driving a 1961 Internationa' I ovned by the Institute of American Indian Studies a'. Brigham Young University, and accompanied by her hus band, Francis C. Milton, lo.-t control of the auto on the rainslick highway and overturned. over-turned. The couple, who are from Hatch, Utah, were tak en to Allen Memorial Hospital Hospi-tal for treatment. No city-lions city-lions were issued by investigating investi-gating olficer Bruce Black. Trooper Billy Hunt also investigated in-vestigated an accident on Sept. 7, this one about 31 miles west of Green River on 1-70. The accident happened hap-pened about 5:30 p.m. when Pamela Kohr, 19, driving a 1970 Volkswagen fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road, causing the VV to overturn. over-turn. No injuries were reported re-ported to either Miss Kohr, or her companion, Lorraine Dougherty, 20, both of Atlantic Atlan-tic City, New Jersey.. The Mkswagen was totally demolished. de-molished. Sept. 8, about 9 miles west of Green River on 1-70, TroT-per TroT-per Wendell Weber investigated investi-gated an accident involving a 1967 Chevrolet suburban. The driver of the car, Dr. John M, Storks, Jr., 27, of Castle Gate fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle traveled olf the roadway and overturned. II was totally demolished. de-molished. Only minor injuries injur-ies were received by Sbx.-I'.s iind his wile, who accompanied accompan-ied him. Trooper Melcln Sehilfrnan Issued a citation to Jamie Chris Katsuleas, 17, of Albuquerque, Albu-querque, New Mexico for failure to keep his vehich! under control and improper registration following an accident ac-cident on Sept. 10, about 23 miles east of Thompson on 1-70. Katsuleas apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his 19 Volkswagen and the car left the road and rolled ther Katsuleas nor a companion, com-panion, Jeff Clark, also of Albuquerque, were injured. |
