Show Hospital Board Employs Architect for Plans The Allen Memorial Hospital Hospi-tal Board last Thursday approved ap-proved the hiring of an architect archi-tect to submit preliminary plans for conversion of the cast wing of the hospital to a long-term care facility for the aged. Present plans call for providing pro-viding space for ten patients in that wing, plus a day room and dining room area. Nursery Nur-sery facilities now located in that wing, but used only on infrequent occasions, would have to be relocated and rebuilt re-built in the west wing of the hospital. J. Kay Hawks, administrator administra-tor of the hospital, told the Board members that certain staff problems were arising from early announcements nf the plans of the Board tc convert the wing into a nursing nur-sing home. Board chairman, Ellis Cook instructed Mr. Hawks to schedule a meeting of the Board, the staff and the medical staff at the earliest ear-liest possible time following receipt of preliminary plans from the architect, so that the problems could be reviewed re-viewed and a final decision made. Mr. Hawks reported to the Board that although the hospital hos-pital had been extremely busy during certain times ?f the past two months, the average av-erage census figures were still substantially under the estimates used in drawing up a budget. r |
