"Skinny" Winn, Canyonlands Canyon-lands by Night has become one of the most enjoyed trips in the area which can be enjoyed by all members of the family. The journey upriver starts just before dark at the Colorado River bridge just north of Moab. Winn has mastered the art of illuminating scenic areas with 40,000 watts of power mounted on a special truck which coordinates with the beat. You may enjoy Southeast Utah's magnificent red cliffs in daylight; but it is hard to describe how they come alive under controlled illumination after dark. Canyonlands by Night is unique. There is nothing else like it anywhere. No place is there a combination of fantastic cliffs and quiet river to combine into such a magnificent story of Southeastern Utah. The Canyonlands by Night tour leaves nightly about a half hour after sundown. When the afternoon sun disappears behind the Western hill and leaves downtown Moab in shadow, you should leave for the dock. Cost of the excursion is a very reasonable $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. A 10 per cent discount is offered for groups of 15 or more couples. The capacity of the sturdy Moab Queen is 85 passengers. Large groups wishing to make reservations may call Winnco, Inc. at 259-5261. Although days and nights in Moab are warm, the air temperature on the river is quite cool and visitors are advised to bring a light jacket. |
