Show Oil Well Fire Near Cisco Extinguished An oil well being drilled near Cisco caught on fire about 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Operator Ross Jacobs said they were drilling at a depth of 1100 feet when they hit a pocket of gas which ignited. The well is located about six miles north and east of Cisco. Cis-co. The Viking Oil Company, controlled by Mrs. Arlene Lansdale and her son Dyke, is drilling the well. Sheriff W. H. Bowman went to the scene with a fire truck and volunteers, battling the fire until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday before the fire was put out. An estimated $18 to $20 thousand thous-and damage to the drilling equipment was caused by the fire. |
