Show Moab Cify Hearing Reviews Master Plan Moab's Master Development Develop-ment Plan was discussed at a public hearing Tuesday iz the Council Chambers. Mayor Winford Bunce stated sta-ted Wednesday that everyone every-one present agreed that tiie proposd changes were necessary. nec-essary. One of the changes creates a new Neighborhood Commercial Zone in the vicinity vi-cinity of the Apache Motel on 4th East. The proposals also tightened tighten-ed - the commercial area downtown, the Mayor said. The R-4 zone for trailers is more adequately specified in the plan as is the definition definit-ion for mobile homes and permanent houses. Bunce s.aid also that there were a number of conflicts in the old ordinances which have, been eliminated in the new. One topic that-was discussed discus-sed in Tuesday's hearings, was the beautification ,of Moab, specifically that ' portion por-tion involving Main and Center Cen-ter .Streets. It was suggested suggest-ed that a better painting of crosswalks, such as in stripes, strip-es, would be more adequate. A uniform cleanup of signs and window displays was also al-so discussed. Another beautification proposal pro-posal involves a median strip on both Main and Cotter Cot-ter which would consist of a divider for growing shrubs. The .Mayor said that such a plan for Center Street ii probably the most feasible, and .even this depends o.i funding' and the interest of the people.-As far as funding fund-ing goes, the Mayor said, 50 per cent of the amount for such beautification would be available from the Housing and Urban Development Ad-" ministration. "The toughest change thr.t was made," Mayor Bunce stated, "was regarding subdivisions." All new subdivisions must have their plans submitted for approval. It will be required re-quired that all subdivisions planned for the future include in-clude sidewalks. This will eliminate a problem which has existed in the past, now being corrected as money becomes available. |
