Mrs. George 0. Patterson Dear Editor: Let's Beat Brigham City. We only have five weeks left in the Governor's landscape land-scape and Improvement contest con-test as do all other communities com-munities in Utah. By the deadline of the contest con-test August 31, we should have at least tried to clean Moab up a litle bit. Even more- than a little bit, if we want to try for the trophy rewarding re-warding the most outstanding cleanup effor. The Deseret News will present the trophy on September 16. Plaques will be awarded, also for the outstanding city accomplishments in hauling away junk cars; for senior citizen and youth activity; and the best scrapbook. Moab has a chance to win an additional award from the League of City and Towns in the population category 801-20,000. 801-20,000. The town that has won the most cleanup awards over the last ten years is Brig-ham Brig-ham City. They managed this by painting fences, as well as cutting weeds and gathering debris. If we put our hearts into cleaning up trash like Brigham City does we, too, could carry away the big cleanup trophy for '72. As I mentioned previously in this letter, a plaque will be awarded for outstanding accomplishments in youth involvement. Well we kids are partly responsible for littering lit-tering the city. I hope all the kids in this town will try to get involved in the cleanup. I cerainly will. Terry Barnes.
