Show County Commission Met With large Group Monday The Grand County Commission, Commis-sion, in regular session Monday, Mon-day, set the dates of May 31 and June 13 for the Hoard of Initialization. Anyone with complaints about their taxes will have the opportunity to present their case then. In other business, residents of Castle Valley were told that fencing to control range cattle is an internal problem, and the county will not at this time require cattlemen to construct fences. A request by Donna Day for a beer license for the Alibi Club was considered. It was decided that such license will be issued only when the club is brought up to fire and health standards. Norah Eubanks, representing represent-ing Planned Parenthood, asked as-ked that one commissioner sit on the local advisory board, and Comm. Leo Burr agreed to do so. At the request of Richard Bagley and Joe Eton, the commission agreed to request Title XX local disgressionary funding for a paid person to work with the Drug and Alcohol Board. Barbara Ozment informed the commission that a veterinarian veterin-arian has agreed to shelter animals on a limited emergency emerg-ency basis. She recommended that the commission upgrade the dog ordinance and make plans for sheltering of stray dogs. In reaction to these requests, requ-ests, the commission asked that she prepare some samples including the provisions she would like to see implemented. implement-ed. Fred Lathrop announced his resignation as chairman of the Council on Aging, and the commission asked that the council recommend a new chairman. Don Spradling and Paul Ross, with Civil Defense in Salt Lake City, met regarding changeover to a volunteer part-time Civil Defense director direc-tor in Grand County. Cliff Aldridge was appointed to this position. In order to solve the animal carcass dumping problem in the county, the commission voted to develop an animal carcass pit near the dump and impose, by ordinance, a substantial fine for those who do not use it. The commission approved Bill I lines with Ross Thomson as stand-by driver for the new Senior Citizen van purchased with district Title XX funds. |
