Show Drouth Status Asked for Grand 9 Drouth emergency disaster status for Grand County is being requested of Governor Scott Matheson by the county commission. If granted, this status will allow farmers and ranchers to purcha.se feed at a lower price, and will also provide tax relief. Also during the commission meeting Monday, former Commissioner D. L. Taylor appeared, at the request of the commission, and discussed his experience experi-ence serving 4 years on the Association of Governments board of directors. Comm. Harvey Merrell reported that he had requested some information and financial reports from the AOG at the board meeting held March 17. When received this information will be considered regarding the county's March 7 decision to announce withdrawal from the association. After discussing recommendations made by the Fire Board to give the community better fire protection, the commission decided to investigate the possibility of using Manpower employees employ-ees to install street signs in Spanish Valley. Jerry Davis, of Job Service, reported that an applicant through the CETA B training program for help in the County B Recorder's office as requested by the 9 recorder, was refused an interview. Dahl Zohner, National Forest Service, discussed the need for upgrading of the La Sal Mountain loop road and current unavailability of maintenance funds. The commission informed him the county will not accept this road on the county road system until it is paved and in good condition. , There was an application for a beer license for the Overniter Motor Inn in Elgin, and this was approved by the commission. & II 1II1MMIMIII r |
