Show Pinkerton, Blank Win Victories In School Races Narrow electon victories were notched Tuesday by two winners in races for opening seats on the Grand County School Board, according to figures released late Tuesday night by County Clerk Barbara Bar-bara Domenick. In District No. 4, Earl F. (Bud) Blank, operator of the Montgomery - Ward Catalog Agency in Moab, narrowly won victory in a three-way race involving himself, Marvin Mar-vin E. Clever and Max Day. The totals listed in that district dis-trict were Blank, 166; Clever, 156; and Day, 135. In an even closer race in . District 5, incumbent School Board president, J. G. Pinkerton, Pink-erton, administrative manager mana-ger of the Texas Gulf Sulphur Potash Dvision, narrowly defeated de-feated his opponent, Adelbert F. (Pat) Patterson by a vote of 271 to 262. For State School Board incumbent in-cumbent Sheldon Allred, of Price, won an 883 to 425 victory vic-tory in Grand county over his opponent, Clair Erickson; and went on to win his district dis-trict also. Voting for school posts in Grand county was marked by many voters failing to c.st ballots. A full twenty per cent failed to mark the school section sec-tion of the ballot. This was thought by some observers to 'be the result of a confusing situation brought about by the extremely large ballot. In the past, voters have elected school board members by using us-ing separate ballots printed for that purpose. |
