Show Founders Day Celebrated by Moab Sororities The Moab chapters of Beta Sigma Phi celebrated the 37th anniversary of the organization's organiza-tion's founding last night, April Ap-ril 24. A banquet in which the two local chapters joined for the occasion was held at the Desert Inn. Thirty-seven years ago, the first chapter of the sorority was formed in Abilene, Kaa-sas. Kaa-sas. There are now approximately approx-imately 9,000 chapters and 200,000 members in the United Unit-ed States, Canada and fifteen foreign countries. In addition to the banquer, traditional ceremonies were observed. The history of the local chapters were reviewed and the new members received receiv-ed their first welcome to membership. mem-bership. Mrs. Paul Arthur and Mrs. Dick Allen served as co-chairmen of the Founder's Day banquet. The Toastmistress for the evening was Mrs. Ait Redd. Other members who had a part in the program were Mrs. Gene Gibson, Mrs. Sam Taylor, Mrs. Russ Don-ogliue, Don-ogliue, Mrs. Calvin Cox, Mrs. Jack Oleurain, Mrs. Bud Mc-Conaughy, Mc-Conaughy, and Mrs. Pat Wim-mer. Wim-mer. Mrs. Lester Taylor was selected sel-ected for the honor of presenting pre-senting a special message the sorority received from the founder. She received the message from International Headquarters in Kansas City. It was the central event of the evening and culmination of the program. |
