Show Park Official Wins Interior Commendation A National Park Service officer in Washington, D.C., well known in Moab, has been cited by Interior Secretary Stewart L. Udall for meritorious meritor-ious service, in recognition of significant contributions to fiscal management operations in the National Park Service. He is Arthur J. Gilmore, husband of the former Cecil Taylor of Moab. The award presented two weeks ago read: "Mr. Gilmore entered on duty with the National Pari: Service in May 1938. Early in his career he demonstrated ' ability and aptitude in the administrative and fiscal ma- nagement fields. He progressed progres-sed to his present position of Chief Accountant through fis- 'l cal, property management ' and administrative channels in four national parks, a nat- ' ional recreation area, a reg ional office and the Washington Washing-ton office. His significant coii tributions include providing leadership in the development and installation of a new accounting ac-counting system on a Service-wide Service-wide basis; special efforts in connection with the consolidation consoli-dation of the National Park Service's field finance offices; and innovation work in thu initial conversion of the National Nat-ional Park Service's payroll, accounting, and financial reporting re-porting functions to ADP. His expert knowledge and resourcefulness resour-cefulness have made it possible pos-sible to institute many improvements im-provements in accounting techniques tech-niques to keep the National Park Service abreast of rapidly rap-idly changing conditions. His progressively successful career car-eer is due to his self-development and an unusual amount of dedication to duty beyond the normal job requirements. He has consistently and ef- fectively related the fiscal operations op-erations of the National Park Service to the basic requirements require-ments of the Department of the Interior and other higher authority. In recognition of superior contributions to more effective management of fiscal fis-cal operations of the National Nation-al Park Service, Mr. Gilmore is granted the Department of Interior Meritorious Service Award." Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore and children, residents of Falls Church, Va., are frequent visitors vis-itors to Moab. |
