Show Area Wbmen Due Honors For Efforts Several area women will be among those to be honored hon-ored at a reception for all Minute Women of World War n, which will be held in the State Capitol Building Build-ing August 21. The affair, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., is sponsored by Gov. Calvin Rampton, Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, executice vice president presi-dent of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Gen. Charles Thorstensen, Director of Utah Emergency Emergen-cy Operations and Civil Defence Agency. Grand County Minute Women were active and successful in their efforts during World War II. In 1942 the county won second sec-ond place in a scrap metal drive, and national honors for the most scrap metal per capita gathered. General chairman of that drive was Mrs. Ila Corbin. Working under her were the following women: Mrs. Mary Pogue, Moab; Mrs. Virginia Gruver, Thomp- "J i son; Mrs. Lee Carbajal Cisco; Mrs. EmmiU Eli2' onda, Westwater and Har ley Dome; Mrs. Marjorij Howland, Elgin; and Mrs M. E. Wolverton, Sogo. ' Mrs. Corbin, who receiv. ed the invitation on behalf ' of the county, asks that the women involved get in touch with her, so that plans may be. made to at. tend the event. |
