Show Planning Meeting Held Tuesday, Preliminary Reports Filed Long-range plans for Moab City and Grand County were reviewed here Tuesday at a meeting of the Master Plan committees commit-tees and heads. Principals present were members of four designated designat-ed committees, representative representa-tive of the contracting firm, Mars Johnson, of Planning and Research Associates, As-sociates, and city and county officials. Four committees had previously been appointed to study problems of future fu-ture growth, and reports from each was submitted. One of the main sugges-. sugges-. ; tions of the . Moab City-Wide City-Wide Committee was - the encouragement of a concentrated con-centrated business district through division of Highway High-way 160. The main traffic traf-fic thoroughfare would be transferred to First East and First West, and Main street encouraged as a slow-traffic shopping area. In cooperation with this theory, the Business District Dis-trict Committee suggested south-bound truck traffic be routed on Fifth West until such time as through streets could be made of First East 'and First West. It ' was also suggested that Center street and Fourth East be zoned for neighborhood commercial. The planning firm returned re-turned to their home offices of-fices in Salt Lake City to research and compile the reports. A meeting has been set for Oct. 17th in Moab, where ' the firm's recommendations will be heard. |
