Show WHAT'S WHAT GOING ON rI 1 By Sam Stun Taylor We saw a column this week written by Editor William Branen Bran- Bran en of the Burlington Standard-Press Standard which we thought was excellent It pertained to clothing worn by modern-day modern I high school boys Entitled Make Men of Them here is the article We dont don't want to start something some- some thing that would harm hann anybody but ut we feel the boys at our high schools should be required to fo wear shirts dress pants and have havea a shine on their shoes We feel that training along this line Une is ls more Important than some isome of the subjects taught to today today today to- to day mainly because it prepares the he man of tomorrow for tomor tomor- row the Idea of school in inthe inthe the he first place Its It's a place where the he youngster is required to learn she he fundamentals of life Lets Let's start start teaching them The Rochester Wisconsin j team of 57 1956 was the he talk of the tournament because because be be- cause use they wore street suits becoming becoming becoming be be- coming of champions Boys will be boys but prepare them hem to be men They might find as boys too late in life df f we dont don't push them a little We agree with Editor Branen do most respects However we wei i dislike th the Idea of attempting to persuade school officials they I should make and enforce rules regarding wearing apparel Although Although Al Al- though most schools have some dress restrictions they are generally generally generally gen gen- poorly enforced After all teachers and education officials have enough on their minds now- now days especially In Jn the west with expanding enrollments and new methods of instruction We would be the last to Join the he growing ever-growing list of citizen pressure groups all striving to toI I dictate what will and what will not be taught in schools A little pride in appearance among emong students themselves is I the answer Weve We've just got to find ind someone to start the ball rolling If one or two can do it end and get away without being cal called d square the first blow will be struck by our side Moab's new radio station KURA a the trip on the river dver by boat Now I have been in do n that In between in-between land and it itis itis is quite an experience I got my first up close-up glimpse of the beautiful Corona arch a sandstone carving which rivals the famed Rainbow rrb The amazing thing is that this feature is only a stones stone's throw from Moab Only several miles down the Colorado and partially hidden from view because of its location up a narrow canyon the arch erch is only a few hundred yards' yards hike from the road We are sure that this feature will become one of the most widely seen in the area in a few years Traveling the White Rim country country coun count try above the river canyon is al always al- al always ways interesting Access roads built by mining and oil companies compan compan- des area though we saw saw i I I I I several 1 automobiles along the way A visiting tourist remarked several weeks ago in the office that it was a shame that the roads around the area were not mar marked ed at all junctions After a little thought I came to the con conclusion that probably very few people had any idea where the roads lead and agreed with him that it was a shame This was the case when approaching approaching approaching ap ap- ap- ap the spectacular Monument Monument Monument ment canyon which we had seen from rom Grand View Point but had never been to Even though the junctions functions along the road were not marked we arrived at the destination just as we had planned ed and had no trouble identifying identify Identify- ing the canyon This drive will one of these days be
