Show l ONS J 1 I Th The rho regular meeting was as called call ed to order toy IbY Vice President Richard Mohler ohler In the absence of President Burck Durek Nine guests and 15 m members were present The business meeting was cut short shott In view of the special program Lion Secretary Cook reported a preliminary net In excess of from the dance and gun raffle raUle Lion Bob Mohler announced l that his committee on the Christmas lighting project pro would meet the following night to select and order the lights and ornaments The meeting was then turned over to Mr Mil Foresee safety director dir ector for the Civil Aeronautics Administration who Introduced Mr Harlan Beeman state flight instructor and six newly li licensed Ii 11 censed Moab pilots Fred Fra Pta zier Ace Ave Turner Harold Pro Harold Sargent Howard How ard Williams and Jack Turner Mr Foresee was high in his praise for tor our local pilots and explained some of the safety problems confronting private flying from the governments government's standpoint Stressing proper maintenance and good flying conduct In his discussion Mr Foresee concluded that Moab's doab's outlaw pilots were definitely mythical Mr Beeman spoke on the need for the devel development of close in In small commercial al r fl e 1 d s pointing out the handicap private vate flying is e experiencing ng from kom the location of the bigger fields too far out Three ree unusually interesting aviation films turns were shown and the meeting adjourned leaving everyone a more snore air minded mind mind- ed and conscious US of af some possible pos sible Improvements to our aur present pre sent facilities Further discussion by some of the club members with these officials and some of the pilots revealed that 1 Aviation gaso line Une gasoline must be kept in the back yard due to no storage stor star age at either field 2 The local pilots as well as visiting flyers much prefer the close In smaller small er field even with Its handicaps handi handl caps because of the ing problem 3 a. The one extremely ely short runway without an oiled surface is very Inadequate 4 Necessary improvements to the nearby small field would be Inexpensive Mr Beeman also pointed out that an Improved and licensed close In field would attract a great number of private plane tourists an and in his opinion Moab offered far more to this type Pe of flyer than any other single area in the state |
