F Bennett Dennett R R- Utah will visit Moab and Grand County on Oct 22 and 23 as part of ot a southeastern tour of Utah While here Sen Bennett Dennett will wUl tour Arches National National Na Na- Monument with Bates Wilson superintendent He will also visit Dead Horse Point and Grand View Point While in Moab he will speak to the Moab Rotary Club at a noon luncheon and to the Moab Lions Club dub at an evening dinner on Monday Oct 23 During the afternoon he will visit Texas Gulf Gull Sulphurs Sulphur's new plant ator will visit the Needles Area in company with Moab and Monticello officials Afterward he will travel to Monticello for fora a dinner meeting After dinner in Monticello the senator will travel to BI Blanding an ding for a late meeting Early in the Congress Sen Bennett introduced legis lation atlon to make Arches National Monument a national park In Inthe Inthe Inthe the same bill blU Sen Bennett also proposed that Capitol Reef and Cedar Breaks be given national park status Sen Bennett said Arches deserves the prestige associated with the national park program Such a designation designation designation tion will stimulate increased tourism for the area and will benefit all of Grand County and Southeastern Utah Sen Bennett is also author of a bill to create a Southern Utah Parkway which would connect the national parks perks monuments and recreation a ar areas as in Southeastern Utah with those in Utah Sen Bennett noted that Southern Utah has some of the most magnificent mag snag scenery in the world which Is enjoyed by t o few citizens from Utah and other states The senator hopes to stimulate tourist traffic through his bills |
