Show to Dear ear Midge It Is so hot and dry now But Butas Butas Butas as I told you Moab is full of surprises I remember last summer summer sum sum- mer we had guests who wanted to o go to Dead Horse Point It Is a forerunner pf Grand canyon Is now a state park and a wonderful wonderful won won- scenic spot We told the guests that it would be a hot dry dusty trip but the discomforts forts of the trip would soon be forgotten in the marvelous sights NIghts they would see After the hot dust we sought the sp sparse shade of some gnarled Juniper trees at the parking area Irea near the Point After a cool drink we started tp walk to the viewpoint Our guests felt richly rewarded as they looked into the vast canyon below them They marveled how that tiny silver ribbon at the bottom of the canyon could be the same Colorado river we had crosse crossed as we left Moab As AJ we started back from the Point some clouds could be seen boiling up on the horizon Before Before Before Be Be- fore we reached the car it started to sprinkle Now I know you dont don't pay any attention attention attention atten atten- tion to a sprinkle where you live but here on the desert the rain is cold and fierce We ate our lunch in the car By the time we reached the main road across the flats huge puddles had formed in the road We went through water up to the lower edge of the car doors When we looked on the large shimmering waves in the road made by the cars car's passage we were glad there were several in th car to our story of mall lakes o 0 nth flats fiats As AJ we started down into th the lower country Sever Seve Mile wash was running full The water was billowing billowing bil bil- lowing and cascading over the th usually so dry rocks When we reached the highway the water had not yet reached the highway high way bridge All was WIlS hot bot dry and dusty People in Moab stared unbelieving at our mud splat j t i car Not one drop of rain I had fallen in Moab I Land of surprises I Come and see for yourself t r Love Pepita I |
