J Reed 59 well known former Moab photographer and first park superintendent of the newly formed Arches national monument passed away In an Ogden hospital Tuesday the victim victim vic vic- victim tim of a heart ailment aUment Mr Reed had been a resident of Ogden since 1951 Born November 23 1901 in I Lowden City Illinois to Abner end and Nancy A A. Montgomery Mr I Reed spent a great portion of his life in the Moab area He lIe traversed much of the Arches I national monument by foot long I before any roads were built into I the area and his excellent and widely publicized photography of I the tho scenic attractions in the Arches led considerably to the popularity of this area as a tourist mecca Survivors Include his mother brothers Joseph Floyd of Pop Pop- Poplar Poplar lar Bluff Mo Rev William Reed of pf Aberdeen Washington Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Lindquist and Md Sons Funeral Chapel In Og- Og den Burial was In the Washington Washing Washing- ton Heights Memorial Park Mr Reed was a member of the Ogden Camera Club and Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society |
