Show Local Principals Stress Problems of Schools With Moab Lions Club Here on Monday Night A report on schools In Moab as conditions exist at present was given members of the Moab Lions club Monday evening by C. C Robert Robert Ro Ro- Ro bert and Joseph Allen principals of 01 the two Moab schools Discussing the present and possible pos poe sible future ne needs s of plant space In the high school Mr stated that the present high school enrollment had reached which Is In excess of tIle tie highest enrollment enrollment enroll enroll- ment of last year All AH building space is pow now being utilized he said including the basement of the auditorium building and the rooms of 01 the old D. D U U. P. P building It was pointed out in the discussion discussion discus discus- sion that hat the present plant did not properly house this many l high gh school students because more rooms were needed in order to keep classes at a teachable number num nurn I Iber ber bet and also that the buildings Were not constructed to provide good high school facilities Mr pointed out that the tho building was originally built as a combined elementary and secondary dary school and that the facilities facUlties formerly used by the elementary division did not properly meet neet high school needs Taking into consideration the future growth apparent fur for the high school Mr emphasized emphasized sized that new construction would be necessary and advised his listeners to be giving it serious thought if good education ed was to tobe tobe tobe be continued in Moab He suggested suggest suggest- ed the possibility of a complete ew tew high school but also aLto pointed out that the cost of such would likely exceed obtainable money for several years As an alternate he suggested adding to the present plant with the thought that the new construction would stilt still be bewell bewell bewell well utilized by junior high students students stu stu- dents if It a new site aito and buildings became at a later date During his talk Mr praised the high school faculty stating that their operation co and efforts so far this year were ex ex- ex He lie also reported the students students stu stu- dents had given their full cooperation co op during the opening weeks in getting school under way Mr Allen AUen principal of the Helen Hel en M M.
