Show GRAND COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY GROWS BOOKS LOANED TO PATRONS DURING 1931 AN INCREASE OF OVER 2000 A LARGE proportion WENT TO OUT OF TOWN CITIZENS REPORT OF LIBRARIAN SHOWS the grand county public library continues to grow in popularity and usefulness every year since its establishment lish ment has registered a substantial increase in service rendered the public and no year has been more illustrative of this than 1931 this Is shown by the annual report of mrs edna shafer librarian filed with the state board of education last week the total circulation of books from the library during 1931 was 16 with books going to adults and to children the increase in circulation over the year 1930 was 2040 the 1930 figures being adult and children A large portion of the books loaned by the library went to out of town patrons the outside circulation was as follows elgin thompsons Thomp sons sego cisco valley city 86 lower valley glade park 25 total 1752 during the year 1931 the library added greatly to its usefulness by the purchase of a set of encyclopedia Brit tanica and a 15 volume set of dramatized american history these volumes have been greatly in demand for reference following is a summary of the librarians report number of volumes added by purchase adult childen total total number of volumes owned at end of year adult 2826 children 1216 total number of borrowers registered during year ault children total number of borrowers card in force at end of year adult children total the number of volumes of adult fiction circulated during the year was the library was open for circulation days during 1931 the average circulation per day was 65 the financial report of the librarian shows that the total expenditures during 1931 was a substantial reduction from the amount expended in 1930 which was following are the principal items of expenditure during the year salaries books periodicals binding 2737 stationery and supplies postage freight and express rent repairs 1050 telephone the balance on hand at the close of the year was |
