Show COUNTY FAIR WILL BE HELD THIS FAIL FALL COMMITTEE CHOSEN ELEVENTH ANNUAL exposition ASSURED WHEN commissioners AUTHORIZE NECESSARY TAX LEVY the grand county fair will be held this year as usual this was assured monday when the board of county commissioners authorized the usual levy of two tenths of a mill to support the institution present at the meeting of the board were commissioners H G green A M robertson and B E buchanan clerk H W balsley sheriff J 13 and assessor 0 H newell A committee of 13 citizens representing the moab lions club met with the comal commissioners to urge that a county fair levy be fixed A general discussion of the question was had bad and the citizens present expressed the opinion that it would be a calamity to allow the county fair to go by the boards the cammi commissioners loners by a divided vote decided to approve the necessary tax levy L L taylor C S thomson J T learning and D E baldwin were appointed as is the general fair committee and they were given authority to form their own organization and set the dates for th theta elfair lr H B evans was appointed manager of the exhibits this years exposition will be the eleventh annual fair in the history of the county the first fair being held in 1922 1 l u considerable business was transacted by the board at its meeting monday the old roadway up moab canyon was designated as a stock driveway which will be posted all stockmen stoc kmen will be required to keep their stock oft off the highway in moab canyon james hoffman was appointed deputy sheriff at sego succeeding alex resigned and his salary fixed at 10 per month the salary of deputy richard davis of thomp sons was raised from 10 to 15 per month E V tucker special agent for the D R G W railroad was appointed po I 1 anted deputy sheriff without salary with full authority to act for grand county the sum surn of was appropriated to aid in the cost of building a road from moab to the swimming pool at the power plant in mill creek canyon an order was passed requiring the peterson redmon filling station at thompsons Thomp sons to take out a merchants license for the time it has been ln in business the mons peterson residence property at moab was sold to john jackson for taxes interest and costs |
