Show HIGHWAY WORK SIT FOR EARLY START S GRAND AND EMERY PROJECTS FIRST ON LIST FOR construction UNDER NEW legislation D E baldwin and C A robertson of moab together with W F P asimus and george beebe of Green river met with the state road commission last thursday in the interest of getting completed the link of highway no 50 between floy and thompsons Thomp sons grand county and a similar unfinished stretch of road on an the same route west of woodside in emery county the road commission and engineer IL S kerr received the committee cordially and explained in some detail the reason that these two projects have not already been let it was stated that the new legislation passed in the last hours of congress providing tor for unemployment relief had made it necessary to submit to the road oad r authorities at washington some questions for interpretation pre tation 0 of f the new legislation and that inasmuch as it was desired to let all road projects on the same basis it was necessary to receive an answer from washington before plans could be prepared in the interest of unemployment relief the new legislation provides for a maximum of team work and man power and a 30 hour week these provisions will be written into the tracts when let the state board could not give a definite date as to when the grand and emery projects could be let but expected it to be early this fall inasmuch as the funds will come from the colton oddle road appropriation which Is specifically for work on the public domain it Is expected that these two projects will be the first awarded in the state the committee later called on governor dem dern at his office and were assured by him that he would use every effort to get early attention to these last two uncompleted portions of route 50 mr and mrs A M cornwall of salt lake city returned to their home the last of the week following a visit with their daughter mrs west hammond and family at la bal sal the ml mi kan wee class of the moab primary association under the leadership of mrs lloyd So mervile lle and mrs glen W southwick lck enjoyed a five day camping trip on upper pack creek last week returning friday in addition to mrs somerville and mrs southwick lck those in the party were misses mary johnson martha john son beth johnson clara knight helen folster polster dixie beach wilma brown ploys beeson ruby alien allen inez hector ruth reid agnes goodspeed maxine steele aylma voorhies edna rae woodruff ruth mcconkle mcconkie dorothy mac mae somerville an and d miriam taylor |
